Link Between Water and Weight Loss

Though you are eating right and doing regular exercise, if you are not losing weight, it may be just because you are not drinking enough water. If you don’t drink enough water, you can not expect to lose weight by any other mechanism.

How Water Helps in Controlling Weight?

Metabolism means the process by which a substance is handled in the body. But the common form of metabolism that everyone talks about is the metabolism of fat. This is what the liver does when it converts stored fat to energy. Though the liver has many other functions, this is its main job.

Another important duty of liver is to pick up the slack for the kidneys, which needs plenty of pure or distilled water to work in a proper way. If the kidneys do not get enough water, the liver has to do their work along with its own, which lowers its total productivity.

If you use distilled water for weight loss you put your liver and kidneys at ease. Otherwise it can’t metabolize fat as quickly or efficiently as it could when the kidneys pull their own weight. If it happens like this, it is not only unfair to your liver, but also leads to storage of fat.

Learn to Drink More Water

Many people want to increase their water intake. But very few stick with it. During the first few days of drinking more water, one may have to run to the restroom constantly. It will certainly interfere with normal day at work. It may seem that the water is coming out as soon as it’s going in. And many people conclude that their new hydration habit is fruitless.

But, what happens is your body flushes itself off the water it has been storing throughout many years. So, it takes a while. But it is a beautiful thing happening to you. When you continue to give your body all the water it could need, it gets rid of the water it doesn’t need. It attempts to get rid of the water it was holding onto in your ankles, your hips and thighs, and maybe even around your belly. So, you are excreting much more than you realize. Your body understands that it doesn’t need to save these stores anymore. It trusts that the water will keep coming, and in turn the flushing will cease. It allows the human to return to a normal life.

Avoid Coffee to Save Water in the Body

Many people load up on coffee before going to the gym. But caffeine is a diuretic and causes dehydration. It may also increase the heart rate and cause a few more calories to be burned. But it happens at the expense of the muscles, which need water for proper functioning. So it won’t do any favor to your heart, which is already working hard enough during your exercise. So, never mix caffeine and exercise. It’s better to stay away from caffeine all together. It pushes the ‘most important’ water out of your body system.

Drink 8 Glasses of Water Every Day

Drink 8 glasses of water everyday. Though it seems much, it is not so. This is really okay for an average person. But if you’re overweight, you have to drink another eight ounces for every 25 pounds of excess weight you have. You also need to increase this if you live in a hot climate or exercise very intensely.

Consume water throughout the day. Have a big glass of water; then sip in between. Don’t let yourself get thirsty don’t drink too much water at one time. Decide on three or four times in a day when you can drink water. If you feel thirsty, it means you’re already becoming dehydrated. You have to drink even when you’re not thirsty.

Take Other Liquids Also

Are you really disgusted with drinking more water? Drinking other fluids may also help hydrate your body. You can try a slice of lemon or lime in the glass, or try flavored water. It is a good idea to stop drinking water three hours before you go to bed.

Cold Water or Hot Water?

Many experts feel cold water is better because stomach absorbs it more quickly. It may also enhance fat burning. But, one can easily drink more of warmer water, and you might drink more of it without even realizing it. Do whatever you like.

Drinking More Water - a Better Solution

When you drink all the water you need, you will definitely notice a decrease in your appetite. You may find it on the first day itself. If you’re really serious about controlling your weight, drinking water is a must. If you’re doing every other thing to lose weight, without any results, it might be just because you are not drinking enough water.
